This one just won’t die.
The “Trump 2028” myth (and associated merch sales) keeps reanimating in headlines, hot takes, and cable news rants. So let’s set the record straight with the help of our old friend: the Constitution.
💥 The claim? That Donald Trump can find a way back into the Oval Office for a third term — maybe not by election, but by sneaky succession.
💡 The truth? That’s not how any of this works.
Cue the 22nd Amendment — ratified in 1951 after FDR was elected four times. It states clearly, simply:
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
And before you get clever: no, Trump can’t be appointed or slip in through the line of succession either. If you’re not eligible to serve — because, say, you’ve already served two terms — you’re skipped over. That means even if Trump were, somehow, Speaker of the House and the entire Cabinet got hit by a meteor, he still couldn’t become president again.
🔍 It’s constitutional whack-a-mole. Every time the idea pops up, it’s slapped down by the rule of law.
So next time someone forwards you that hot new YouTube theory or MAGA tweetstorm, just remember: the 22nd Amendment is not ambiguous, not broken, and not going anywhere.
Know it. Quote it. And then get back to worrying about real things.
