Tariffs: The Explainer You Know You Need

Plus a bonus: my article in TIME on the tradeoffs of executive orders.

Listen Now

Tis the season of presidential power.

And today, we have a two for one special here on Crash Course. Audio and visual, so no excuses that your preferred method of learning isn’t available. Get in where you fit in.

First, the audio. Unless you have been in a stupor (on purpose?) you know that Donald Trump kicked off his second term with more than a flourish of activity—dozens and dozens of executive orders on everything from immigration to renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. For real.

And coming soon, Trump is sure to use the presidential pen to impose tariffs on friends and foes alike. You’ve heard the word, you may vaguely know what they are. But are you sure you know how they work? How they impact the economy? Our national security? Your pocket books?

Well, lucky for you, I sat down with Dr. Kimberly Clausing of the UCLA Law School to break it all down for us on ‘Mastering the Room.’ Dr. Clausing knows tariffs like I know M&Ms. Real good like. Listen now to get the lessons in tariffs we all know we need.

And second, the visual. I had a piece in TIME Magazine earlier this week that discussed the very real tradeoffs of presidents using executive orders to get the policies they want. My family has a saying: sh*t aint free. And it’s true with executive orders, too—even if you love what the president is doing. I’d love if you checked it out.

Finally, the annoying part: we are less than two weeks out from my new book, We Hold These ‘Truths’, officially going on sale. If you want to stop falling for the many myths in our politics, give it a preorder now.

Appreciate you all.
